[Kyna is antsy when she shows up at Rome's door, fidgeting in place as she waits for him to answer. She's got a bag slung over one shoulder with all the decent food she could scrounge up, as promised. It feels like the least she can do. For as much as he tells her not to apologize, she still feels terrible. Having someone die for her is not something she ever thought she'd experience, and she can't work out if Rome did it out of some sense of duty or because they're friends. She's not really sure which she'd prefer.

When he answers, she's got her fingers half tangled in the chain of her necklace.]

Um, hey.

Hello.

[He steps back quickly to let her in, his gaze following the jingle of her hand on her jewelry. Rome rights himself in a moment, focusing his good eye back at her face with a polite nod.]

Thank you for stopping by.

I...

[He hesitates for a moment before nodding once, holding his hand above hers- just barely brushing against her palm.

It's healing somewhat but the damage is still rather grisly and unpleasant to look at. His pinkie and ring finger weren't severed at the same length, though both are below the knuckle and angrily red- cauterized first by the lasers, and then the charred skin removed, leaving shiny burned flesh in its wake. His middle finger is significantly burned too, merely due to the proximity. He's not particularly ashamed of it, but it's... odd to have someone take interest.]

If you like.

[He's not sure what to do with that question- does it still hurt? Obviously he's been asked before if he was in pain, but this is different. It's not like she's assessing his capabilities or just a doctor treating him for an injury- it's different. He can't pinpoint why.]

I'm left-handed, [he finally supplies, for lack of a better response. It's dodging the question, but it's the type of response he's been conditioned to answer with: his pain is irrelevant, it's about his function more than anything else.] I'm unable to use my firearm with it. My accuracy is worse with my right hand, but I could still be a reliable shot under twenty feet if necessary.

[He frowns, pulling back a little- he might as well let her in, and so he takes a step back from the doorway so that she can enter.]

Yes.

[It's the simplest answer.]

It isn't- it's not severe. You don't have to worry.
