Tchyeah, I'm aware of multitasking, okay? [He kicks back, but his heart's not in it and...his aim isnt great.] Just--also aware of your like--unique position. In the seat of judgment. If you want it. There's a crown. A sceptre. Tacos, apparently, the whole shebang.
[She was right there with you, Tim! Just less drunk.]
The deal was no puking on me, which you delivered on. I'm gonna request that you not be almost falling over next time you try to kiss me, but I'll let it slide this time.
[this time next time his eyebrows go way up but he keeps from smirking because there's a waitress asking about drinks and he needs water, water, water, and oh coffee, thanks.] I would be judging. [He goes on once the order is in.] But I guess I'm not as gracious as some. But...how many of these things can you eat? The burden of disproof really falls on you, how can I impress without a benchmark?
[Kate gets one of those fancy Mexican sodas that taste like strawberry-pineapple-mango-whatever, and then rolls her eyes at him, a smile just tugging at the corners of her lips.]
If I'm ever completely wasted and I need a dance partner, I'll make sure I don't call you.
[She scans the obnoxiously colorful menu for a second before continuing.]
And need I remind you which of us was the one bragging about having a black hole for a stomach?
Edited 2016-10-09 06:02 (UTC)
lmao i kind of ACTUALLY H8 WRITING EATING do you mind if we fast-forward over this monumental meal?
[He grimaces exaggeratedly at the menu.] Me, that was me. Fine--
[It's part because he can't read the thing, part because what he can read he can't decide, and part because he loves the idea of the challenge--he folds his menu closed and slides it towards her elbows.] So try me. You order, I'll show you the way we do it in fuckin GC.
[Starting with slamming the two waters the waitress brings (I asked for like eight waters, can you just leave the pitcher? The coffee pitcher too--) and half his coffee black. Let's go.]
[He might regret having her order for him, and his first hint is probably the way she smirks at him when he slides the menu towards her. Kate is definitely going to try to ruin his life with this, so she orders approximately a billion tacos—curry, mango tilapia, veggie, lobster, carnitas, even one with alligator in it, just to see if he'll eat it, and then asks the waitress to bring extra rice and refried beans. Oh, and those plantain chips, too!
When the food comes, it's practically a mountain, and Kate takes her much more modest plate and digs in. And she watches, with growing disbelief, as Tim totally puts all of it away. "Black hole" is probably a mild description for his stomach, she decides, and after she finishes all four of her tacos, she just props her chin up on her hands and enjoys the show. Enjoys? It's almost intimidating.]
Jesus, Drake. If you explode I'm not scraping you off the walls.
No exploding, no hurling. [He recites and slouches into the booth as he pushes a last plate away. His feet hook up on her seat to the left, arms stretch up toward the hanging light.] Can't believe you'd doubt me. Can't believe you had to include the rice...
God, one more cup of coffee. Please. [Hands clap over his face--then fingers split so he can peek through at her, eyes almost level with the table.] ...You're a little impressed, though. Right?
[It's a hilarious picture, Tim all slouched down and peeking at her through his fingers while about seven empty plates litter the table in front of him, and she can't help but burst out laughing. Kate pats one of his legs in a gesture that's comforting or maybe just placating.]
Super impressed.
[And here's the waitress with more coffee! She looks pretty dumbfounded as she takes the plates away, so job well done, Tim.]
I think you deserve a prize for that, I just don't know what.
[His grin is lazy as he takes the filled mug and nurses it against his chest.] Um. I'll a promise you won't blackmail me with this shit. Or delete your number from my system when I go to the bathroom. You're pretty good at this damage control thing, you know.
So you mean you're a good dancer. [His ankles cross, one foot tapping her leg.] Next time--next time, I'll have better control of my faculties. Or we could be like--equal levels out of control.
[Only a week. Even pleasantly glazed as he is, post-liquor and post-meal and pre-sleep shift at this point, there's not a really positive outlook on that. Tim's hands lace together, hooking over her ankles as he chews at his lip.] ...yeah. Yeah, not--I'm gonna have to IOU on taking you out but.
[Just this kind of was his night off, and now it's starting to feel like he wasted it.]
Why don't-- [Sneaker taps at her side, thumb taps against her leg, brows bend like this takes a lot of thought.] --I mean, why don't you hang out tonight? Like--we're hanging out but I have a nice place, there's this--I just bought new coffee filters.
[Kate studies him for a moment, as though this is taking a bit of thought for her, too, but then he uses that stupid coffee filter line and her lips quirk up into a smile as she relaxes.]
Sure, okay. Show me your coffee filters.
[She shifts a little, playing with the straw in her now empty water.]
If you're busy this week, we could always do hero stuff sometime too. Later, I mean.
[Does that sound desperate? That probably sounds a little desperate. Good job, Kate.]

[Kate grins back, toying with the napkin in her lap absently.]
Hey, it wasn't just damage control. It was pretty fun, too.

What, do you want a blow by blow analysis? You're not a bad dancer when you're following my lead.

[She's just got one hand idly resting on his leg now, oops.]
Less tequila next time? It was gross.

[She's just going to lift her feet up and plop them in his lap. Don't mind her obnoxiously purple shoes all up in your space, Tim.]
Think you can make time in your busy schedule to hang out again?
